Li Yizhong

Minister of Industry and Information Technology

Li Yizhong, a native of Datong City, Shanxi Province, was born in March 1945. He graduated from China University of Petroleum, Beijing, formerly known as Beijing Petroleum College, and is a senior engineer. He started work in July 1967, progressing from worker to factory leader.

From Dec. 1984 to Jul. 1987: Manager of the Qilu Branch of China Petro-Chemical Corporation.

From Jul. 1987 to Aug. 1997: Vice General Manager of China Petro-Chemical Corporation; Vice Secretary of the company’s Party Group.

From Aug. 1997 to Apr. 1998: Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Manager of China Donglian Petroleum-Chemical Group Co Ltd; Secretary of the company’s Party Group and concurrently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yizheng Chemical Fiber Co Ltd.

From Apr. 1998: General Manager of China Petroleum Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) and Secretary of Sinopec’s Party Group.

From Feb. 2000: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sinopec.

From 2003: Deputy Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; Secretary of the commission’s CPC Committee

From Feb. 2005: Director of State Administration of Work Safety; Secretary of the administration’s Party Group

From Mar. 2008: appointed as Minister of Industry and Information Technology at the First Session of the 11th National People’s Congress (NPC).

Alternate Member of the 14th and 15th CPC Central Committee and Member of the 16th and 17th CPC Central Committee.
