Kublai Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan and the first emperor of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). He became the Khan in 1260 and unified China in 1279. He was an ethnic emperor willing to learn from the ruling experience of the Han people.
He died on February 18, 1294.
