Jiang Jiemin (蒋洁敏), former head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council and deputy secretary of the SASAC committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), was expelled from the CPC for serious discipline and law violations, said the top discipline inspection agency on June 30, 2014.

Born in October 1955, in Xinyang of Shandong Proinvce, Jiang began his career in 1972. He is a member of the CPC and graduated from the on-the-job postgraduate class for ministerial-level officials of the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, majoring in politics. He obtained his postgraduate academic credentials and is a certified senior economic administrator.

Jiang has successively served as vice director of the Shengli Oilfield and member of its Standing Committee of the Party Committee; director of the Qinghai Petroleum Administration and secretary of its Party Committee; assistant to the general manager of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and head of its Restructuring and Listing Preparatory Work Group; vice president of PetroChina Co. Ltd.; vice governor of Qinghai Province, member of the Standing Committee of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and vice secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee; vice general manager of CNPC, vice secretary of its Leading Party Members' Group, vice chairman of the board of directors of PetroChina Co. Ltd. and president of PetroChina Co. Ltd.; general manager of CNPC, secretary of its Leading Party Members' Group, chairman of the board of directors of PetroChina Co. Ltd. and president of PetroChina Co. Ltd.; chairman of the board of directors of CNPC, secretary of its Leading Party Members' Group and chairman of the board of directors of PetroChina Co. Ltd.; head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, as well as vice secretary of its Party Committee.

Jiang is also an alternate member of the 17th Central Committee of the CPC, and a member of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC.

Xinhua learnt the information on Sept. 3, 2013 from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee that, Jiang Jiemin has been removed from office because of suspected serious disciplinary violations.

On Sept. 17, 2013, the State Council announced the removal of Jiang Jiemin from his post as head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

On June 30, 2014, Jiang was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for serious discipline and law violations. The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) found after an investigation that Jiang was guilty of taking advantage of his post to seek benefits for others, extorting and receiving a huge amount of bribery. The CCDI said Jiang's conduct has seriously violated the Party discipline and the bribery-taking problem has allegedly infringed laws.The CCDI has decided to hand over Jiang's case to prosecutors for suspected infringement of law, it added.

On April 13, 2015, Jiang went on trial over corruption charges at the Hanjiang Intermediate People's Court in central China's Hubei Province.

On October 12, Jiang was sentenced to 16 years in prison for graft and his personal property, worth one million yuan ($158,200), was confiscated by the court.

Jiang Jiemin said in court that he accepts the sentence and would not appeal.
