Located at Kowloon Park, Hong Kong Museum was opened to the public in 1975. It used to be the Hong Kong Art Gallery and Museum, which was later divided into the Hong Kong Artwork Exhibition Hall and the Hong Kong Museum.

Basic exhibitions of the museum are about Hong Kong's natural history and humane history, displaying mainly the development process of Hong Kong in the past 6,000 years. The exhibitions are composed of three parts: an introduction to the natural environments of Hong Kong, the unearthed relics, ancient stone carvings and ancient kilns to reflect the human activities in the area of Hong Kong, and the process of Hong Kong developed from a small fishing village into a metropolis.

The museum has a collection of over 45,000 cultural relics, falling into four categories, namely, the archeology, the local history, the history of folk customs and the natural history.
