He Jiong
He Jiong (Chinese: 何炅) is a famous Chinese television anchorman, actor, singer and Arabic teacher at Beijing Foreign Studies University. He has been the host of “Happy Camp”, a weekly entertainment program produced by Hunan Broadcasting System, for more than 10 years. Now he is one of the most popular anchormen in China, and he has more than 9 million followers on Weibo, which is China’s equivalent of Twitter.
Born in 1974 in Changsha, Hunan Province, He was recommended for admission to the Arabic School of Beijing Foreign Studies University when he was 18.
During his university days, He hosted “Big Windmill”, a children’s program aired by China Central Television (CCTV). In 1997, he graduated from the university and became a teacher there. In 1998, he joined the “Happy Camp” crew as a host, a position he still holds. He has also hosted the “Hunan Channel New Year’s Gala”, “Music Awards of China”, “China TV Golden Eagle Award Television Art Festival”, “Happy Boy” and the dating show “Just for You”.
He has also appeared in a number of TV series, including, “Emperor Zheng De”, in which he was the main actor, “Girls’ Dairy” and “Should not make women shed tears”. He has also provided voice dubbing for a variety of imported animations, including “Madagascar”, “March of the Penguins” and “Ratatouille”.
The versatile entertainer also released five albums between 2004 and 2010, with ““Gardenia in Blossom” receiving particularly high praise.
