First built in 1845, the Happy Valley Racecourse was originally aimed at providing horse racing services to British in Hong Kong. The first race ran in December 1846. Today, the track is ultra-sophisticated with computerized betting and races broadcast live on gigantic screens. Night racing was introduced in 1973 and was an immediate success.
