Guanting Hydropower Station is the first automatic hydropower station designed and built by China.
Construction began on the hydropower station in April 1954. And the station started operations on December 27, 1955, three months ahead of schedule. The station has a reservoir of 2.27 billion cubic meters, the equivalent of 100,000 tons of coal.
