On September 20, 1986, China built its first modern offshore oil production that met international standards in an oil field in the Bohai Sea. The platform had facilities for drilling and processing crude oil and gas. It could produce 4,000 barrels of oil and 40,000 square meters of natural gas per day. There was also accommodation for workers and a control room.
