Emperor Yongzheng's fourth son, Emperor Qianlong (1711-1795) reigned for 60 years, pushing the Qing Dynasty to its zenith. During his reign, he crushed rebellions of local forces in northwest China, tightened control of the areas on both sides of the Tianshan Mountains, and issued the Regulations of Imperial Jurisdiction over Tibet, thus strengthening the central government's authority over Tibet to maintain the integrity of Chinese territory. However, due to conceit, he spent huge sums of money to display his greatness and success. Heshen, the most corrupt official in Chinese history, was his favorite official.
