Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County is located in the northern part of Guangxi. The Ecomuseum of Dong Ethnic Group at Sanjiang was completed and officially open to the public since November 28, 2004. Its exhibition and information center is set in the downtown of the county, which has lauched the “the Exhibition Dong Culture at Sanjiang”. Meanwhile, by adopting the approaches of “combination of villages and museums” and “interaction between villages and museums”, 9 villages (including Gaoding, Dudong, Zuolong and Batuan, which are within the upstream (15km) of Miao River to the north of Sanjiang River) are included in the ecomuseum. There are 18 Dong village gates, over 1500 Diaojiao buildings, 26 drum towers and 13 wind and rain bridges. It is the most ideal place to understand and study the southern Dong culture, because of the rich traditional architecture, elegant brocade culture, strong festival customs represented by the “Yueye Festival”, as well as the far-reaching institutional culture such as the institution “Kuanzhi”.
