Confucian Temple of Shanghai

From Wiki China org cn

The Temple of Confucius was constructed in the reign period of Emperor Chunyou (1241-1252) of the Southern Song Dynasty. The Hall of Great Attainment is its major structure, inside which there are statues of Confucius and his famous disciples. Besides there is a spacious court flanked by seven rooms on each side. To the east of the hall stand two bronze bells and to the west is a big drum.

The temple has witnessed Shanghai's growth over more than 700 years—from a small county seat to one of the world’s biggest metropolises now confronting the problem of integrating the modern with the traditional.

Now, the temple has been gaining fame as a secondhand book market and is the destination for book-lovers and collectors.
