After losing to the US team in a group match, the '''Chinese women's volleyball team''' beat its American rival in the final 3:0 at the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 1984, not only winning an Olympic gold medal, but also fulfilling their dream of "winning the third consecutive top place in the world competitions." At the same time, the Chinese women's volleyball team became the first team gold medal winner in Chinese Olympic history.
