The Varyag, China's first aircraft carrier, receives the side designation "16" on Sept. 3, 2012.

The Varyag (瓦良格) began sea trails in August and received the side designation "16" this month. The vessel has made China the last of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council to own an aircraft carrier. (More...)
