Xuan Zang (602-664), originally named Chen Wei, was a Tang Dynasty monk.
In 627, he set out from Chang'an for India. He passed through Gansu, Xinjiang and Central Asia and, after much hardship, finally reached India, where he visited many famous temples. He studied Buddhist classics and learned Buddhist doctrines from Indian monk scholars. (More...)
