Li Dazhao

1889: Revolutionary pioneer and martyr Li Dazhao was born.

1980: Wang Zhigang, a worker of a tractor factory in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, conducted bomb attacks at the Beijing Railway Station, killing nine, including Wang himself, and wounding 81.

1964: China and Zambia established diplomatic relations.

1991: A 20-year old Chinese female chess player, Xie Jun, defeated Maya Chiburdanidze for the world championship after 15 games in the Women's World Chess Championship in Manila, the Philippines. Maya Chiburdanidze's domination had lasted for 13 years since 1978.

2015: China announced to allow all couples to have two children, abandoning its decades-long one-child policy, according to a communique issued after the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
