1986: Evening bell at Nanping hill rung again.
2002: Sequence of rice chromosome 4 finished by China. The Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shanghai municipal government jointly announced that China had completed the sequencing of rice chromosome 4.
