1948: China's Northeast People's Liberation Army captured Shenyang. From then on, the northeast part of China, originally ruled by the Kuomintang, was liberated.
1957: Chairman Mao Zedong led the Chinese delegation by a specially commissioned plane from Beijing to Moscow and attended the 40th anniversary ceremony celebrating the great October Socialist Revolution.
1971: China and Peru established diplomatic relations.
1974: A Chinese ocean-going freighter, "Yanting," arrived at Copenhagen, the Danish capital. This was the first time a freighter manufactured by China was received at a Danish port.
1981: China officially opened the Museum of Patent Literature.
1998: China and the Kingdom of Tonga established diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level.
1999: The first China Shanghai International Arts Festival opened at the Shanghai Grand Theater.
