1924: Dr. Sun Yat-sen released "Statement on My Departure for the North."

1956: The Second Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opened. The meeting decided to rectify the styles of the Party in the latter half of 1957, in order to uproot subjectivism, sectarianism and bureaucratism.

1985: Wu Yifang, China's first female university president, passed away.

1994: China introduced "Explorer," its first wireless, underwater robot.

2001: The WTO's Fourth Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar, approved China's entry into the WTO.
