1981: Mao Dun, a master of Chinese contemporary literature, passed away.

1987: The first Chinese Special Olympic Games commenced. The Games were held in Shenzhen from March 27-29, 1987. A total of 314 athletes from 14 teams all over Chinese mainland and Hong Kong participated.
