1950: The National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts was established.
1997：China finished construction of its first cross-country optical cable. Extending from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, to Khabarovsk in Russia, the cable runs a total of 970 km, with 820 km inside China's territory.
