1957: The Central Experimental Opera House performed My Fair Lady. This is the first time in Chinese history that a Western classic opera was staged in China with Chinese performers only.
1964: The first operation of auto-transplant of bone marrow succeeded in China. Bone marrow from a twin sister of the same egg was transplanted into her sick sister suffering from regenerative anemia.
1994: Qian Zhiguang, founder of New China’s modern textile industry, died.
