1970: China's first artificial Earth satellite -- Dong Fang Hong-1 Satellite --was launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
1997: China signed the Agreement on the Mutual Reduction of Military Forces in the Border Areas with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
