Yang Chuan-kuang, a decathlete from China's Taipei, won a silver medal in 1960 at the 17th Olympic Games in Rome. He was the first Chinese athlete to win an Olympic medal. He was also the only Asian to win an Olympic medal in the track and field events at the 17th Olympic Games, hence his nickname "Asia's iron man."
