Meili Snow Mountain (http://www.china.org.cn/english/travel/55515.htm) is located some 10 km west of the Deqin county seat. With a snow-covered ridge extending for some 50 km, it has 13 peaks 6,000 m above sea level. The pyramid-like Kagebo Peak is the highest, 6,740 m above sea level.
The Meili Snow Mountain is regarded as the No. 1 of the eight sacred mountains in Tibetan Buddhism. From the autumn to early winter every year, thousands of pilgrims from all places come to worship the mountain. Buddhist devotees consider it the highest honor to be able to walk a full circle around the Prince Snow Mountain.
