Liu Gongquan (778-865), a Tang Dynasty calligrapher influenced by Yan Zhenqing, created his own style, known as “Liu.” The “Liu” style stressed firmness, grace, strength, compactness and fine structure. He is often referred to in combination with his famed predecessor, as “Yan-Liu.”
