The Beijing Subway, opened to the public in 1971, now has eight lines, over 200 km of tracks and 123 stations in operation and serves 3 million passengers per day. The eight lines are Line 1, Line 2, Line 5, Line 10, Line 13, Line Batong, Olympic Branch Line and Airport Express Line. A fare of 2 yuan (about 0.3 US dollar) with unlimited transfers applies to all lines except the Airport Express Line, which costs 25 yuan (about 3.6 US dollars) one way. Beijing subway network is planned to comprise 19 lines and 561 km of tracks by 2015.
