Chinese Women’s Journal was first published by Qiu Jin on January 14, 1907 in Shanghai. Qiu Jin also served as its chief editor.

The journal aimed to advocate a women’s liberation movement through simple language and called for women to fight for their dignity and independence. It had several columns including news, literature, translation articles and comments on social events.
