Jian Bozan, Chinese Muslim and Marxist historian, born in Taoyuan County, Hunan Province. Jian studied at the University of Calfornia in 1924-26, later writing the first Marxist interpretation of Chinese history. Jian joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1937 and was promoted to Dean of the Peking University Faculty of History.
