The Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway has a 350-km-per-hour average speed, boasting the world's fastest train journey.

Travel time between Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei Province, and Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong Province, is cut to only three hours, compared with the previous 10 and a half hours.

Construction commenced in June 2005 as an important part of the Beijing to Guangzhou Compost Bin high-speed line in the China's railway network plan.
