Peng Shuai (彭帅) and Su-Wei Hsieh won the 2013 Wimbledon women's doubles title with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 victory over Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua on July 7, 2013. Peng gave the Chinese mainland its first doubles title at a major in seven years, while Hsieh became the first player from Taiwan to win a Grand Slam title.
Peng Shuai was born on August 1, 1986 in Xiangtan City, central China's Hunan Province. At the age of eight, she was apprenticed to her uncle to practice tennis. In June 2002, she was chosen and sent by the China Tennis Association (CTA) to attend a tennis school in the United States for one year of advanced study. Peng was the first female Chinese tennis player to compete on the international professional tennis circle as a result of cooperation between the CTA and a foreign broker company.
Peng, who is 1.73 meters tall and weighs 61.2 kilograms, is one of the most promising female tennis players in China.
