Radar engineer Wang Xiaomo (王小谟), was awarded China's top science award on Jan. 18, 2013, for his remarkable contributions to scientific and technological innovation. Wang is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has been engaged in the research and design of radar systems for the past 30 years. He is regarded as the "father" of airborne warning and control systems in China.
Biography
Wang was born on November 11, 1938, in Shanghai. He graduated from the Beijing Industry Institute (now renamed the Beijing Institute of Technology, BIT) in 1961. He is currently the executive vice president of the China Academy of Electronics and Information Technology, as well as a tutor of Ph.D. students at BIT and a member of the China Engineering Academy.
