Chen Deming (陈德铭)

Chen Deming (陈德铭), was elected chairman of the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) on April 26, 2013.

Chen served as Minister of Commerce from December 2007 to March 2013.


Chen Deming, ethnic Han, a native of Shanghai, was born in March 1949 and joined the CPC in September 1974. He has a Master’s degree in economics and a Doctorate degree in management.

Oct. 1985 - June 1993: Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Commerce.

June 1993 - Aug. 1996: Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangsu provincial government.

Aug. 1996 - Nov. 1997: Deputy Secretary-General and Director General of the General Office of the Jiangsu provincial government.
