Covering an area of 38.44 square kilometers, Jiayin Dinosaur National Geological Park lies on the right bank of Heilongjiang River, Jiayin County, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. Previously the site of Longgu Mountain in Jiayin County, it was established as Dinosaur National Geological Park by virtue of approval granted by the Review Committee of National Geopark in 2001.
It is the very place where dinosaur fossils were first discovered and unearthed in China. In 1902, a Russian paleontologist found the dinosaur fossils here, and assembled those unearthed fossils into an integrated dinosaur skeleton of 4.5 meters high and 8 meters long.
