Explosion mechanics expert Zheng Zhemin (郑哲敏), was awarded China's top science award on Jan. 18, 2013, for his remarkable contributions to scientific and technological innovation.
Born on October 2, 1924, he is a member of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Zheng has devoted himself to research in the fields of elastic mechanics, explosion processing and underground nuclear explosions.
Biography
Zheng was born on Oct. 2, 1924, in Jinan, Shandong Province. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 1947 and received his Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics & Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology, U.S., in 1952. He returned to China in 1955.
