Three major Islamic festivals are observed in China. The first is Lesser Bairam, held on the first day of the 10th month of the Islamic calendar, immediately after the month of fasting (Ramadan) ends. The second is Corban Bairam, or the day of sacrifice, which falls on the 10th day of the 12th month in the Islamic calendar. Every year on this day Muslims offer sacrifices of animals to the Prophet Abraham. The third is the Prophet Mohammed's birthday, which falls on the 12th day of the third month in the Islamic calendar.
