Established in 1990, the National Olympic Sports Center Stadium was once the most outstanding stadium of its type in China with exceptional facilities. To prepare for the Beijing Olympic Games, it underwent a transformation, during which its surface area was expanded from 20,000 to 37,000 square meters – with spectator seating increased from 18,000 to 36,000. The new stadium is now equipped with all-new capabilities, such as broadcast speakers and color screen LEDs. Likewise the quantity of functional rooms has also been increased. More than 50 box seats have been are added with open ventilation and natural lighting.
