Located at the southern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Himalayas are the the world’s highest mountain. Mt. Qomolangma, in the middle of the Himalayas and with an altitude of 8848.13 m, is the highest peak of the world. It is eternally covered by ice and snow. Close to Mt. Qomolangma, there are more than 40 mountains with peaks at least 7,000 m above sea level.
