Mu Suixin, former mayor of Shenyang in northeast China's Liaoning Province, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve on October 10, 2001. His deputy, Ma Xiangdong, was also sentenced to be executed for embezzlement and taking a large amount of bribes.
