It was a tower where, during the [[Three Kingdoms]] Period (220-280), General [[Lu Su]] of the Kingdom of Wu reviewed the naval parade. Along with [[Yellow Crane Tower]] in [[Wuhan]] and [[Prince Teng's Pavilion]] in [[Nanchang]], it is listed as one of the Three Great Towers in [[China]]. The fame of the building is largely due to ''Yue yang lou ji'' (Remarks on the Yueyang Tower) by [[Fan Zhongyan]] (989-1052), a great man of letters in the [[Northern Song Dynasty]] (960-1127) in response to the completion of another rebuilding of the tower.<br /> <br /> First built in 210, the building underwent a number of renovations and expansions. Now 19 meters high, it is a majestic three-story structure ingeniously designed.
