New page

Located in Ruicheng County, the construction of the Yongle Palace (永乐宫) began in 1247 and completed in 1358 during Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368), while the famous Yongle Palace murals were painted during the ensuing Ming and Qing dynasties. Covering an area of 86,000 sq. m, its main buildings are arranged along a north-south central axis. It was the most intact compound of buildings left over from the Yuan Dynasty.

Murals found in the various halls total 960 sq. m. They feature rich themes and superb painting techniques, and are masterpieces in China's painting history.
