Acknowledged as the founder of the “Wumen School” of painting, Wen’s works touched a variety of subjects: landscapes, figures, flowers, orchids, and bamboo, among many others. With fine-brush techniques and the use of light colors, serene compositions were conceived in his well laid-out landscapes. Human figures also were often casually painted in isolation to bring about a feeling of internal strength.
