The '''Shuanglin Temple''' is located in [[Qiaotou Village]], seven kilometers west of [[Pingyao County]]. As one of the major sites of the [[Ancient City of Pingyao]], it was listed as a key cultural site under the protection of the [[Shanxi]] provincial government on [[May 24]], 1965.

Covering an area of 14,844 sq. m, it is built on a three-meter-high earth base; it is surrounded by high rammed-earth walls on four sides. In addition to its various major halls, what makes the temple famous are pagoda trees planted during the [[Tang Dynasty]] (618-907), stone tablets erected in the [[Song Dynasty]], bells cast in the [[Ming Dynasty]], as well as 2,056 invaluable colored sculptures.
