On Nov. 27, 1927, the National Conservatory of Music (the current '''Shanghai Conservatory of Music'''), the first new-type music school in [[China]], was established. In October 1927, according to the principle of "Use aesthetic education to replace religious education," [[Tsai Yuanpei]] sent Dr. [[Xiao Youmei]] to make preparations for the construction of the National Conservatory of Music in [[Shanghai]]. Xiao referred to the Paris National Institute of Music as a reference. After setting up the first music school in China, he took the position of dean.<br />

In July 1929, according to an order by the government of [[Nanjing]], the school was renamed as the National Music Institute and gradually developed into a famous music school in China.<br />
