New page

In the hearts of calligraphy lovers, the '''Orchid Pavilion''' is considered the mecca. Located 12.5 km southwest of [[Shaoxing]], this historic as well as scenic site occupies an area of over three hectares. Its name was chosen the king of the Yue State who once grew orchids there. A pavilion was also built on the spot in the [[Han Dynasty]] to serve as a post station.

The pavilion nestles against green hills covered with rich trees and dense bamboo groves. Around it are murmuring crystal-clear streams. The winding waters, ancient buildings, stone tablets, and above all, the display of masterpieces by top calligraphers, both ancient and contemporary, all combine to make the spot a popular attraction.
