The 2739-km-long cable runs through 23 counties and cities of [[Gansu]], [[Qinghai]] and [[Tibet]], crosses the [[Qaidam Basin]], the[[ Kunlun Tanggula mountain]] ranges, and is on average 4000 meters above sea-level.
