New page

Located at Hohhot, the Inner Mongolian Museum boasts a large collection of Mongolian items.

Covering an area of 5,000 sq. m, with 3,500 sq. m. for exhibition, the museum is a two-storeyed white building with a white sculpture of a running courser on its top, a typical architectural style of the Mongolia ethnic group. The museum houses 56,475 pieces of cultural relics, of which 635 pieces are of top grade, including an eagle-shaped golden coronet of the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) unearthed in 1972, and a 42.7-cm-high incense burner of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) unearthed in 1970.

The museum has four halls, namely, Display of Ancient Animals’ Remains, Display of Historical Relics, Display of Folk Relics, and Display of Revolutionary Relics.
