New page

A key cultural relic site under national-level protection, the villa occupies 0.24 hectares on Jingde Road east of the Huanglifang Bridge in [[Suzhou]]. It is famed for its rockery art. Its predecessor was the [[Golden Millet Garden]] belonging to [[Qian Yuanliao]], [[King Guangling]] of Wuyue State during the [[Five Dynasties]] Period (907-960). At the turn of the 17th century during the [[Ming Dynasty]], it became the residence of [[Shen Shixing]], a high-ranking official. In 1841 during the [[Qing Dynasty]], [[Wang Zao]] and [[Wang Kun]] renovated its east garden and renamed it Yiyuan, or Huanxiu Mountain Villa.
