New page

On October 3, 1992, [[Hunan Agricultural University]] bred a strain of rice of high yield and high quality through the insertion of the corn DNA. Research on this process began in 1989. After three years of breeding and selection, the stable strain GER1, featuring strong tillering capacity, more grains, big ears and high quality, was finally developed

Each ear contains about 200 grains on average, and its yielding rate is as high as 80 percent.
