New page

Situated at Nanxi, Zhejiang Province, Furong Village was built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and has over 1,000 years of history. Although a millennium has passed, the walls, houses, paths, pavilions, temples and pools in the village still retain their ancient style. The best way to enjoy the attraction is to go along the river to watch the water, villagers and local customs. The old village hidden in a green forest also offers great picture possibilities for photographers. It has 30 well-preserved Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty structures, 18 ancestral halls and five Ming Dynasty house sites.

Most worth visiting: residential homes, ancestral halls, ancient village walls

Admission: 15 yuan

How to get there: Take a boat fromg Wenzhou City to Oubei town and change for a bus to Yantou town at Oubei station, 11 yuan per person, then walk for half an hour to get to the village or hire a car to get there.

Tips: 1. Hotels available at downtown Yantou, not far from the bus station, 40 yuan/room off season, 200-300 yuan/room in tourist season;
2. There are many restaurants at downtown Yantou. Be sure to try local Suo Noodle and Gancai Pie of Nanxi River.
