He graduated from Literature Department of Japanese Imperial University of Tokyo with a Master Degree of Education and Philosophy. He worked as editor in the [[Commercial Press]], professor and secretary general of [[Sun Yat-Sen University]], Dean of Literature Department of [[Anhui University]] and Dean of Philosophy of [[Wuhan University]]. He moved to [[Taiwan]] after the Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945) and held the posts of curator of Taiwan Library and professor of Taiwan University. He settled in [[Beijing]] in [[April]], 1982.
